About Us

FRED'S BEGINNING

Fred's Downtown Philly is truly a DFW original. Fred's is a casual, family friendly one-of-a-kind Philadelphia Cheesesteak restaurant founded by a real hands on owner, Fred Walker who started this dream in his home garage over 25 years ago. Yet, he still can be seen workin' the grill everyday of the week - except Sunday. Before following his heart and passion & opening his first Downtown Philly Cheesesteak restaurant Fred was a degreed electrical engineer and ITT Tech for IBM. For many DFW area residents Fred's has become a part of their family and we hope that continues! A big heartfelt THANK YOU to our guests still coming to our restaurants during these stressful times.

Who We Are

Plano - This is our Flagship store, where it all began over 20 years ago in our Plano neighborhood.

You can opt for some Philly Toothpicks which are sliced onion strips paired together with jalapeno strips fried in a beer batter or, always a favorite Utz potato chips, thick sliced fried pickles, sweeeeet potato fries, or our outstanding spicy mozzarella sticks as side items to go along with your Cheesesteak, Hoagie, Wings, Salad or even a Fred's Burger. There's a Fred's Kidz menu too.

Now, because we make your lunch and dinner fresh every day, all day, the wait can get long during rushes, BUT please be patient & know you will be served with weighty, sometimes messy goodness, but that's only because perfection does take time. So, step up to the counter, order, pay, step aside to wait for goodness then grab your food 'round the corner just at the other end and keep it moving. While you're waiting take a look at our "Fred's Liberty Wall of Shame".
